A L’Ombre des Muses
This mysterious Syrah Grenache blend is a rich and weighty artist, dark and moody, its clean fresh flavours and heavy tannins are a perfect match for a meal or winter evening. Syrah is a relatively new grape to this region and only makes up a tiny percentage of our farm. Our little Syrah is relatively old at 35 years and well situated, surrounded by pine and oak forests and north west facing. With a low yield and lots of love and attention our little Syrah produces it’s dark and stunning grapes.
Named after Christophes great grandmother this wine is a simple pleasure. Made with 100% Grenache variety from the vineyard that was passed down from Benita herself. South facing and at the top of a hill these vines are surrounded by wild rosemary, lavender and cade. The position and the calcium rich soil gives La Benita its rich unique flavors.
This wine is honest and down to earth. The strong raspberry and black current flavors are in a perfect dance with its strong mineral tannins. It is an uncomplicated indulgence perfect for a summer meal or a quiet glass while your making dinner.
Predominantly Carignan with just a touch of Grenache and Syrah this complex gem will stop you in your tracks and demand your involvement. It is a sophisticated blend of fruit, minerals and woody flavours that will amuse both your taste buds and your imagination.
The Carignan is our smallest and oldest vineyard. It is a variety that is generally overlooked in these parts as it’s susceptible to disease but for those delicate growers who are able to nurture a Carignan to full maturity are rewarded with a fresh and honest grape capable of genuine beauty.
Un Raisin dans le Pain
This little darling is a seriously class act. A blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah is pressed, fermented and aged in oak barrels then stirred through out the winter to produce a complex and buttery rose with hints of fruit and flowers. It is not your average ‘rose de piscine’ but a dense wine that can be served with a special summer meal, afternoon lunch or Christmas feast.
Our 2016 Un raisin dans le pain is almost finished and should be bottled and available for purchase by the end of this spring, patience is a virtue :)
